What does TurboPatent do? Invention discovery, harvesting, and protection (via patenting). We can also help you with office action responses.
How is TurboPatent different than a traditional law firm? Because we are a technology company and not a law firm, we improve workflow efficiency by leveraging our AI-powered drafting tools. Our proprietary technology provides data-driven insights about how your patent application will perform before you waste time and money filing it.
Who is it for? We work with companies of all sizes—from start-ups to large international corporations.
How can TurboPatent help startups? If your company is just starting to build your patent portfolio or still deciding how to get started, we’d like to set you up with our AI-analytics tools to help you identify which of your inventions to patent first. The tool has been trained on actual USPTO data for maximum accuracy and compares your inventions to hundreds of thousands of patents granted by the USPTO to gauge the viability of you obtaining a patent. Plus, we make the tools available to you at no cost.
How can TurboPatent help companies who have already begun to patent their inventions? If your company wants strong patent protection for its inventions, our U.S.-based TurboPatent Engineers will draft higher-quality patent applications than a traditional law firm using our real-time automation and analytics tools. These tools were purpose-built for patent drafting, enabling better capture your invention, while eliminating formatting mistakes and delivering a greater chance of allowance. And since our tools automate part of the process, we will draft your application more quickly and, thus, at substantially lower cost than a traditional firm.
How does TurboPatent work? First, our Inventioneers onboard your company and answer any business questions you may have. Then our TurboPatent Engineers use proprietary AI-powered drafting tools to create your application. The tools automate aspects of the drafting process, ensuring correct patent grammar, and promoting consistency across your application, which allows us to draft a patent application in about half the time (compared to a traditional law firm).
What’s an Inventioneer? Inventioneers are the liaisons between clients and TurboPatent. They assist with onboarding clients, populating Invention Hub with the client’s ideas, answering questions about process and pricing, and providing the business information clients need to grow their patent program.
How can TurboPatent save companies time and money before they file a patent? Our AI-based tools can predict performance of an application at the USPTO (e.g., possible art units and grounds of rejection) before it is filed, which allows us to engineer the application and avoid likely rejections that would typically require additional legal fees to address.
How does our patent get filed? While we are not a law firm, we have a contractual relationship with a law firm who can then file the drafted application or, if you prefer, you can file the drafted application yourself or with the assistance of another counsel of your choice.
How much does it cost? Provisional patent applications cost $2,000—which is a flat fee. Included are initial strategy and invention consultation, invention discovery session, Invention Hub tracking and analytics system, automated semantic prior art search, RoboReview application analysis, legal review, assignments, and filing service fees. USPTO fees are passed through at cost. More pricing info can be found here.
Do patent applications include drawings? Yes. Our Non-Provisional Patent drafting service includes up to 6 drawings. The Provisional Patent drafting service includes up to 4 drawings plus descriptions.
What is RoboReview? RoboReview is an automated, AI-based quality reviewer we use to run a final quality check. We send that report along with all draft applications we write for you. Interested in evaluating RoboReview for free? What is TurboPatent’s background? Jim Billmaier, a seasoned technology executive, and Charles Mirho, a former Intel patent attorney, founded TurboPatent in 2013 in response to their own frustrations with the painfully manual and expensive process used by most traditional patent firms. Their solution was to assemble an experienced team of U.S-based TurboPatent Engineers and equip them with proprietary AI technology in order to produce better quality patents for clients.
